How I think about building in the AI era
The hard part of AI was never the model — it's everything around it: the
integration, the failure modes, the guardrails, the question of who owns it
when the system does something unexpected. I learned that the slow way,
piloting generative AI into an enterprise product before "let's add AI" was
the whole industry's plan.
Agentic systems are the next version of that problem, an order of magnitude
harder. I'm in deep study mode on them now — because the people who'll lead
this shift are the ones who understand the plumbing, not just the prompts.
I've made that kind of early bet on a platform shift before. It's the only
way I know how to work.
